Nigerian Army donates educational materials to school in Bayelsa

As part of the precursor activities for Exercise CROCODILE SMILE IV, 16 Brigade Nigerian Army has donated Educational materials to some selected schools in Bayelsa State. 


This is in line with the series of activities heralding the commencement of the exercise in the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility (AOR).

While donating the materials to the schools across three local government areas of the State, the Commander 16 Brigade, Brigadier General Valentine Okoro reiterated that the COAS places high premium on educational development of the youths, hence the Brigade is pursuing an educational support to drive this initiative.

This he said, will lead to an enlighten generation of youths who will shun all forms of criminality and contribute meaningfully to the development of the Niger Delta and the country at large.

The educational intervention program was flagged off at Central Epie Secondary School, Opolo in Yenagoa, Community Secondary School, Utuasega in Ogbia LGA and the prestigious Ijaw National Academy in Kaima, Kolokuma/ Opukuma LGA. Items donated are; Three thousand Customized books with the inscription Exercise CROCODILE SMILE IV, One hundred Chairs/Desks for students, Five Office Chairs/ Tables, One Thousand Mathematical Sets, Five Boards, Five Cartons of Board Markers, Six Sets of Sports Jerseys, Twelve Footballs amongst others.

The occasion was attended by the Commissioner of Education, Bayelsa State, Honorable Jonathan Onbuebite who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr Tony Tombri, Local government Chairmen, Members representing various communities in the LGAs, traditional Rulers and some officials of the State Ministry of Education were in attendance. High point of the occasion was the presentation of the materials to the schools.
