Niger Police arrest three suspects for stealing female underwear

The Niger state Police Command has arrested three suspects for stealing pants in Lapai and Kaffin-Koro area of Niger state.

The suspects include a 24 year old Tailor, Mohammed Ali, 19 years-old Ephraim Isaiah and 18 years old Abubakar Sadiq.

Mohammed Ali is a tailor in Lapai while Isaiah and Sadiq are students of Izom Science Secondary School in Guests local government area of Niger state.

Mohammed Ali was arrested when he tried removing a female pant spread inside the room of a female student in State Low-Lost in Lapai.

Paraded by the Police on Friday, Ali confessed that he was contacted by one of his customers to steal four female pants after which he would be given N20, 000.

He said that he was in the act of stealing the third pant when he was caught by the people in the area and handed over to the Police.

“One Madaji Yabajeko from Agaie is my customer who comes to sew clothes from me. He approached me to steal pants for him, that if I steal four pants, he will pay me N20,000.

“I have stolen three pants so far and when I steal it, I give it to him. But he has not paid me. He said he will pay me after the pants are complete.”

Ali further said that he stole the pants when the ladies are not at home but on the fateful day when he was caught, he did not know the owner of the pant was inside the house.

“I steal pants from the windows of the student’s lodge off campus. The last one which they caught me, I did not know the girl was at home. As I put my hand inside the bathroom to take the pant, that was how she shouted and people cane around and I was caught.”

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abubakar Muhammad said that there is more to the stealing of pants that meet the eye, which is the reason why they arrested the trio in different areas of Niger state.

He said that the suspects will soon be charged to court.

Abubakar further advised female to be cautious on how they spread their underwear as there are perpetrators who are prowling round to use these underwear for ritual and other suspicious purposes.
