Join in the fight against corruption, Magu urges Benue People

Magu gave the charge at the Makurdi Zonal Office of the Commission

The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu on Monday, October 7, 2019 called on the people of Benue to shun all forms of corruption and to join hands with the EFCC in the fight against graft.

Magu gave the charge at the Makurdi Zonal Office of the Commission when he made a working visit to the Benue State capital.

During his interraction with journalists, the acting Chairman reiterated the determination of the EFCC to battle corruption and financial crimes to a standstill in the country and urged the media and all the people of Benue to join hands in fighting the menace called corruption.

According to him, “We need your support in fighting this corruption, I want you to join us in the fight. Corruption is like the rain beating down on everybody. All of us have a responsibility in fighting against it”, he said.

While clarifying that EFCC was not witch-hunting anyone, he said, “I can not identify any political party under investigation, but if you are corrupt, I will go after you and that is what we do. You can see that the two Governors who were convicted and are currently serving their jail term are of the ruling party”.

“If you are corrupt, we conduct preliminary investigation against you and we go after you, that’s why if you are invited to EFCC, there must be something we have discovered.

“And we have been getting lots of convictions, also we are making a lot of efforts in chasing the Yahoo-yahoo boys, the internet fraudsters”.

Asked about the whistle blowing policy, he said:
“The whistle blowing policy is working and we are paying”.
