Vice Admiral Abdullahi was a patriot, says Buhari at Burial

President Muhammadu Buhari Wednesday described the late Vice Admiral Hussain Abdullahi (Rtd) as a patriot with unparalleled loyalty to Nigeria.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai represented the President at the burial of Vice Admiral Abdullahi at the National Cemetery, Abuja, according to Islamic rites.

The Chief of Army Staff conveyed the condolences of the President to the family of the late elder statesman, who served as Vice Chief of Defence Staff during the administration of President Shehu Shagari, and Governor of Bendel State from March 1976 to July 1978.

Senator Abdullahi Adamu, representatives of the Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Naval Staff, Principal Staff Officers from Army Headquarters and other senior government officials attended the Janaiza prayers and final burial rites of the late Vice Admiral.

The delegation also paid a condolence visit to the family house of the deceased.

The family expressed appreciation to the President for identifying with them at this period, and recognizing the selfless and unparalleled services rendered to Nigeria by the senior military officer.
