Suspected militia attack Tiv settlement, kill four people

Four people were killed at Jootar, village in Benue state in early Monday morning attack.

Jukun and Tiv ethnic groups have been locked in war with each other for the past five (5) months over what started as a minor disagreement.

Over 70 persons have been killed and property Worth’ millions of naira destroyed so far in the lingering crisis.

The suspected Jukun militia stormed the border town at about 4:00 am when the people were fast asleep and set many houses ablaze.

They also shot and killed four (4) persons who attempted to escape.

When contacted the Chairman Ukum local Government Hon Tor-tyokaa Ibellogo who spoke through his special adviser on media and strategy, Hon Godwin Iwanan confirmed the attacked and killings saying the bodies have been deposited in the mortuary.
