Governor Emeka Ihedioha has awarded university scholarships to two Imo indigenes who emerged as the best two candidates in this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
The two best candidates, Stephany Ugboaja and Favor Alozie, who are indigenes of the state, scored As in all the nine subjects they each wrote in the examination.
The governor, who received the candidates and their parents at the Government House in Owerri, said the government was happy with the honour the children had done the state.
Ihedioha said, for doing the state proud, the state has awarded scholarships to the two individuals to attend any university of their choices within the country.
The governor said that under his watch, the state would continue to reward excellence and promote academic competition.
“We are proud of the honour you have done our state. We are known for academic brilliance and in encouraging you, we have awarded scholarship to any university of your choice within the country,” the governor told the recipients.
