In an apartment raid by Northern Cyprus police, several people were detained in connection with the murder of Obasanjo Adeola Owoyale, who went missing on July 1, 2019 and was found dead in the trunk of his car parked in the area known as the Nicosia schools road on July 8, 2019.
The organised raid was carried out by Police officers from the Nicosia Police Department at 04:00 on Thursday morning.
Police ransacked every room in the three-storey apartment, a machete and a bloody vase thought to have been used to murder Owoyale was recovered by police as evidence.
The body of Owoyale was discovered by police officers who was called to check an area near a shcool after being notified that a very foul smell was coming out of the car.
According to police report, Owoyale a Cyprus International University student died as a result of “cutting/crushing injuries, multiple fractures of the head bones and brain tissues”.
The arrested suspects, simply identified as “black youth” have been taken to police headquarters for questioning as investigation continues.
According to information obtained from the Police Press Officer, 9 people were arrested as part of an investigation into the killing.
The suspects will be brought before the Nicosia Accident Court tomorrow.
