Police rescue kidnapped victim, recover ammunition in Niger

The Police Command in Niger State has rescued one Buba Umaru, of Billiri,  Gombe State, from the hands of the notorious kidnappers who blocked the Sahorami-Makara Road in Mashegu Local Government Area of the state.


The Spokesman for the command, Muhammad Abubakar, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen on Saturday in Minna.

Abubakar said that Umaru, a trailer driver was kidnapped by the bandits on April 29, 2019.

It was learnt that they took him to a nearby bush before the operatives of Puff -Adder acting on information ambushed them, engaged them in a gun battle and succeeded in killing one of the kidnappers as they rescued the victim unhurt.

The Spokesman disclosed that the command had declared war against kidnappers in the state, adding that”We are going to make life uncomfortable for them in Niger state.”

“They better engage themselves in a meaningful thing that would profit them or face the consequences.”

He said that the command had set security modalities in motion to ensure the arrest and prosecution of the suspects at large.

He appealed to the residents to assist the police with information that would lead to the arrest and prosecution of criminals in the state.

Abubakar said the corpse of the suspect was deposited at Kontagora General Hospital and one AK47 rifle loaded with 28 live ammunition was recovered from them.
