Katsina Emirate suspends Sallah Durbar

Abdulmumini Kabir Katsina

There will be no Durbar in Katsina Emirate to mark the forthcoming Id el Fitri according to the Emir, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Katsina.

The decision is to mourn victims of the recent bandit attacks in parts of the state.

But prayers will be held after the Eid prayer for sustainable peace in the state and the country at large.

The Emirates Information Officer, Alhaji Ibrahim Bindawa, said in a statement on Saturday that  the Emir directed him to  inform the public that  “following bandits attacks in some communities in the state, the usual Sallah Durbar will not hold during the Eid Fitr celebration.”

Gunmen and cattle rustlers have descended on the state lately, killing and maiming people for no just cause.

The end of the Ramadan is expected to come up next week.
