Glory for South Korea as Ko Jin-Young wins ANA Inspiration

Jin Young Ko won her second tournament in three weeks with a three-shot victory at the ANA Inspiration in California.


The 23-year-old, who won the LPGA Founders Cup a fortnight ago, went into the final round at Rancho Mirage at the top of the tree and carded a 70 to take the title.

It was a mixed round for the South Korean, with two birdies and a bogey on the front nine and a pair of dropped shots mixed with three birdies on the back nine.

Her compatriot Mi Hyang Lee also carded a 70 in the final round to secure second place, finishing on seven under and three shots behind Jin.

Lexi Thompson improved from 15th to third after carding a 67 to finish the tournament six under, one shot ahead of Carlota Ciganda and In-Hyung Kim.

England’s Charley Hull went round in 70 to finish tied for 12th on three-under, Jodi Ewart Shadoff also carded a two-under round to finish two-over and tied for 39th, and Georgia Hall finished tied for 61st, three shots further back.
