Be the Change Agent, Magu Charges Youth Corp Members

The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, today, April 2, 2019 charged members of the National Youth Service Corps in Edo State to become change agents in the fight against economic and financial crimes in the country.

Magu stated this while delivering a lecture on the Role of Youths in Curbing Corruption at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Okada, Edo State.

The EFCC boss who was represented by Williams Oseghale, Head, Public Affairs Department, Benin Zonal Office, stated that the greatest challenge facing Nigeria was corruption and the twin evil of economic and financial crimes.

According to him, the NYSC members were critical in eliminating this social malaise. “You have a role to play in the fight against corruption. We want you to become foot soldiers and whistle blowers in areas of your primary assignment. We also want you to become good examples in discipline, transparency, integrity and accountability, “he said.

He charged the Corp members to imbibe the culture of excellence as future leaders of the country and to shun all forms of criminality.

Magu said it was disheartening that some youths were involved in internet fraud and other form of economic and financial crimes. “The Commission will keep working hard to bring such criminals to book. Last year alone, the Commission secured 315 convictions and we are almost hitting 200 in the first quarter of this year. So I urge you to stay away from fraud, avoid being one of the convict. Be legitimate in your dealings so that as future leaders your dreams and aspirations are not truncated,” he advised.
