The acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, while on a live Radio program at Peace FM Maiduguri called on the general public to shun all forms of vote buying and inducement of voters during the coming Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in Borno State.
Magu gave the charge through the Maiduguri zonal Head, Lawrence Iwodi, who reiterated the position of the EFCC to fish out individuals that are taking advantage of the situation of the Internally Displaced Persons living at various IDP camps across the state in buying their votes.
According to him, “the general public is hereby warned not to engage in selling your votes, as each vote count in selecting good leaders that will govern you in the next four years. Any person cut in the act of vote- buying and or inducement of voters will face the wrath of the law.” Magu stated.
“Operatives of the Commission are stationed in each and every IDP camp across the state to monitor and arrest any person buying votes of either the displaced persons or individuals during and after the voting processes”.
“The General Public is hereby warned to desist from any form of financial inducement of voters during and after the election period and to also report such through the available platforms of the Commission”, Iwodi said.
Iwodi commended the General Manager of the Radio Station, Fatima Audu Yusuf for identifying with the Commission in the fight against corruption in Borno States.
