Kwara State governor-elect gets certificate of return today

The Independent National Electoral Commission will issue a certificate of return to the Kwara State governor-elect , Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, on Wednesday.


The commission’s Director of Voter Education and Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Jacob Ayanda, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

Ayanda said the ceremony would be performed by the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Attahiru Madami, at the state headquarters of the commission in Ilorin, the state capital.

He added that the 24 members-elect of the state House of Assembly would also receive their certificates of return at the event.

Abdulrazak of the All Progressives Congress was declared the winner of the election, after getting 331,546 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Razak Atunwa of the Peoples Democratic Party who scored 114,754 votes.


The APC also won all the 24 seats in the state House of Assembly.

There will be 23 male members and one female in the assembly.

The only female member, Adeniran Joy, was elected to represent Shawo/Eesa State Constituency in Offa Local Government Area of the state.
