The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Chairmanship election in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory inconclusive.
The Returning Officer for the Bwari Area Council election, Prof Wesley Nafarda, made the announcement on Sunday.
He said the election was declared inconclusive owing to some challenges experienced in some of the polling units within the area council.
He put the total number of registered voters at 224, 737, adding that out of this figure 44,250 voters were accredited for the election.
Out of the 44,250 accredited voters, he said the election recorded 42, 291 valid votes while 1,137 votes were rejected
He said that the Peoples Democratic Party candidate scored 22, 711 votes while the candidate of the All Progressives Congress scored 16, 714 votes.
From the results of eight wards out of ten wards so far released, APC won two while PDP won six.
The six wards won by the PDP are Ushafa, Shere, Usuman, Kuduru, Dutse, Bwari Central. The two wards won by APC are Byazhin and Kubwa.
The results for two wards were declared inconclusive. The wards are Igu ward and Kawu ward.
Nafarda said that results for 17 polling units were cancelled.
Those cancelled are all the 12 polling units at Kawu ward, while five polling units were cancelled at Igu ward.
He blamed thuggery for the cancellation of the result of 12 polling units in Kawu ward.
He explained that results sheets were destroyed by thugs during the collation of results at Kawu ward.
Nafarda said the difference between the two top contenders for the chairmanship position was just 5, 997, adding that this was why the the election was declared inconclusive.
He stated that the commission would announce a new date for another election at the affected units.
