With the reports of some Corps members protesting in some Local Governments in Lagos, the Independent National Electoral Commission in the state has come out to debunk allegations that the commission was yet to pay the ad hoc staff during the Presidential election.
Speaking with The Punch in the INEC office in Yaba, the spokesman for the commission, Mr Olufemi Akinbiyi, said corps members who are yet to receive an alert of payment for the work done during the presidential election were having issues with their account.
“INEC is not giving any corps members cash, we have paid their money into their bank accounts. Some have got the alert while some are yet to because they might be having issues with their bank details.
“Each corps member is entitled to N13,000 during the Presidential and Governorship election making a total of N26,000. Each of them has received their N4,500 training allowances,” Akinbiyi said.

The INEC spokesman said some local government chairmen and politicians promised to give corps members money in their local governments which they have not fulfilled and that is why some of them were protesting.
