Emir’s daughter loses as APC clears all 24 seats in Kwara Assembly

The daughter of the Emir of Ilorin, Princess Aishat Sulu-Gambari, who contested the Magaji Ngeri/Ilorin Central Constituency on the Peoples Democratic Party platform, lost to Abubakar Olawoyin of the All Progressives Congress.

Sulu-Gambari polled 7,602 votes while Olawoyin polled 17,338 to be declared winner of the election.

The remaining 23 constituencies were also won by the APC.

Announcing the result on Sunday at the INEC office in Ilorin, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mallam Garba Attahiru, described the election as historic.

“It was in many ways better than the presidential election due to the peaceful atmosphere,” he said.

From the result of the Kwara State House of Assembly election, only one female, Mrs Joy Adeniran, representing the Shawo/Essa Constituency, was elected to the House.

In the meantime, the Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Mr Mathew Okedare, did not get re-elected.

Okedare, who contested on the PDP platform, lost his Lanwa/Ejidongari Constituency to Bello Olanrewaju of the APC.
