EFCC Takes Anti Corruption Message to NUJ

The acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, on Thursday, March 7, 2019 called on Nigerians to shun all forms of vote -buying and inducement during the forth coming Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections. Magu gave the warning through the Kaduna Zonal Head, Mailafia Yakubu while on a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalist, NUJ office in Kaduna.


Mailafia warned the public not to engage in selling or buying of votes, as he said that vote – buying portends a great danger to our future and the future of generation yet unborn. According to him, the effect of vote buying include but not limited to “voting the wrong people into governance”. He however warned that operatives of the Commission have been stationed to monitor such act and anybody found wanting will face the wrath of the law.

Responding, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Adamu Yusuf, on behalf of the union, commended the Zonal Head for the visit as he promised that the Union will be supportive of the activities of the zone in particular a d the fight against corruption in general.

We are aware this is your first day as the zonal Head, we are pleased with your attitude to work. We shall work with you to achieve your objectives”, Yusuf assured.
