EFCC: Muhtar Bello Takes Over as Benin Zonal Head

Muhtar Bello, a Deputy Chief Detective Superintendent, DCDS, on Wednesday March 6, 2019 assumed office as the new Zonal Head of the Benin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.


Prior to his appointment by the Acting Chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Magu, DCDS Bello was the Head of Cyber Crime, Lagos where he distinguished himself as a top anti-corruption czar.

In his maiden meeting with staff of the Benin Zonal Office office, Bello charged the officers to redouble their effort in the fight against corruption as the Commission was resolute in exterminating the malaise.


According to him, collaboration and discipline among staff were key to achieving more successes in the zone. “As officers of the Commission, we must work together as one, show discipline and collaborate with each other,’ he stated.

DCDS Bello, a Course One operative of the Commission has attended several training both locally and internationally. He took over from Yakubu Mailafia, the pioneer Head of the Benin zonal office who was recently appointed as the Zonal Head, Kaduna.
