EFCC, ICPC Inaugurates Anti-Corruption Club in Enugu

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu has charged Nigerian youths to uphold the tenets of integrity and high morals in their dealings with one another, in order to ensure a corrupt-free society.


Magu gave the charge through a staff of the EFCC’s Public Affairs, Enugu zonal office, Bethel Ude at the inauguration of the Anti-Corruption Club for students of Government Secondary School, Enugu and the unveiling of the NYSC Anti-Corruption Community Development Scheme, CDS group, Batch A stream A 2018/2019 of Enugu North Local Government of Enugu State.

He said: “Integrity brings you dignity and respect.

“As future leaders, do not get involved in corruption at any level.

“This includes examination malpractice, truancy, cultism, drug abuse and all other vices common with secondary school students.

“In all you do, always remember that a good name is better than silver and good.


“Do not indulge in corrupt practices that will ruin you, your future, and rob you of a good name in future.”

Head, Education Department of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, South-East Zone, Ozi Agualize, also charged the youths to be diligent and concentrate on their academics.

“We all know what corruption has done in our country and it hurts me because the youths suffer the effects of corruption more, and so I charge you to be role models to other students,” he added.

The NYSC Enugu North CDS coordinator, Paul Chukwu, commended the initiative of the Anti-Corruption Club, noting that it will impact knowledge in the students, and help them come up with a project that will constantly remind the students to be of good conducts.


In his speech, Pioneer President of the Club, Casmir Onwuegbusi, pledged to ensure that corruption was stamped out amongst students and the nation at large.

On his part, the Principal, Chief Ifeanyi Onyia, appreciated the setting up of the Club in the school.

“The anchorage of this club in this school will help the school to eradicate all forms of corruption among students and our society, and to raise worthy ambassadors,” he said.
