EFCC Arraigns 6 for Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Maiduguri Zonal Office, has arraigned Suberu Ishaq Okatai, Mustapha Ahmed, Paul Ogah, Dr. Abas Omale, Engr. Kim Lee and Ibrahim Iliyasu before Justice Fadawu Umaru, of the Borno State High Court, sitting in Maiduguri on a two-count charge for the offence of conspiracy to commit cheating and inducement to the tune of N1,190,000 (One Million One Hundred and Ninety Thousand Naira) only.


Count one of the charge reads: “That you, Subaru Ishaq Okatai and Mustapha Ahmed, Paul Oga, Dr. Abbas Omale, Engr. Kim Lee and Ibrahim Iliyasu Gate (now at large) sometimes in March, 2018 at Maiduguri, Borno State within the Jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did agree between yourselves to do an illegal act, to wit: Conspiracy contrary to and punishable under section 96 of the Borno State Penal Code Law CAP 102 & punishable under section 97 of the same law.”

Subaru pleaded “not guilty” to the charge.


Counsel to the prosecution, Halima Alhaji Shehu, urged the court to fix a date for trial.

Thereafter, Justice Umaru adjourned the matter to March 18, 2019 for “commencement of trial” and ordered the remand of the defendant in prison.
