A dog belonging to a yet-to-be-identified man has attacked and killed a nursery school pupil, David Emmanuel, while also injuring another child, named Benita Adejoh, at a school in Rumuagholu in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The owner of the dog is said to be out of the country but left it in the care of his security guard, who looks after his building as well.

Thedog escaped from the compound when the gate was left open, went to the primary school, which was nearby and unfenced, where it attacked its victims.

Emmanuel was said to have died at a hospital where he and eight-year old Adejoh, were rushed to after the vicious attack.

Angered by the development, residents of the area pelted the dog with stones and sticks until it died.

One parent, whose child attends the school, told our correspondent that they enrolled the girl there because of its low fees.

She said, “The school fees here are affordable for most of us who are poor; that is why we bring our children to the school.

“After the incident, the police visited the school and arrested the head teacher.”
