“We are here to observe and learn from you about how you operate and are able to achieve the success you have recorded so far,” she stated.
The Abuja Zonal Head, Umar M. Hadejia who along with the zonal Heads Of Units and Sections received the delegates, explained the process of receiving petitions and how cases are assigned for investigation and finally for prosecution.
“Integrity in the EFCC is not compromised; that is why we recruit professionals and people whose background was proven to be clean. We also have the power of prosecution as well as enforcing other legislations which were already in existence even before the establishment of the Commission”, he said.
Hadejia further explained that “The Commission also applies checks and balances to ensure that staffs are not compromised and if in any case they are, the officers will also be prosecuted in the court of law.”
Hadejia took the delegation on a tour of the Zonal Office, showing them the Exhibition Store, Interrogation Room, Male and Female Cells and the Clinic.
Matumbe thanked the Zonal Head and the Commission for the rare opportunity given to them to observe things first hand and expressed the willingness of her Commission to receive EFCC delegates anytime they wish to visit the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission.
