Shettima commends Borno people for voting Buhari, APC candidates

Kashim Shettima

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State has commended the people of the state for voting massively for President Muhammadu Buhari in last Saturday’s presidential election.

The governor also urged them to extend the same gesture, which saw them electing all candidates of the All Progressives Congress for National Assembly including himself, to the candidates of the party in the forthcoming governorship and House of Assembly elections.

The governor, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Isa Gusau, said the people had gladdened his heart by voting for all APC candidates in the election, a situation which saw President scoring over 90 per cent votes, three senators elected and all the 10 candidates of the party for the House of Representatives voted.

The governor, who congratulated APC supporters in the state for the victory, reminded them of what he called a bigger task ahead in relation to the governorship and House of Assembly elections scheduled for March 9, 2019.

He said “Although the APC has in Prof Babagana Umara Zulum, a popular choice across party lines, there is a need to approach the next election with seriousness.”

He said the party would work hard to deliver higher votes for Prof Zulum and the 28 state Assembly candidates of the APC.

He called on Borno people to safeguard their permanent voters cards ahead of the governorship and state Assembly elections.”
