The Independent National Electoral Commission, on Monday, declared Senator Gershom Bassey of the Peoples Democratic Party winner of the Cross River South Senatorial District election, held on February 23.
The News Agency of Nigeria, reports that Bassey is the incumbent senator representing Cross River South Senatorial District in the Senate.
The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. James Epoke, said that Bassey scored 77,478 votes to defeat his closest rival, Senator Bassey Otu of the All Progressive Congress who got 63,250 votes.
