Politicians recruiting fake returning officers, says Ikedi Ohakim

The governorship candidate of Accord Party in Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, has alleged that fake returning officers would be on duty during the general elections.

The former governor spoke in Owerri, the state capital during a stakeholders’ meeting held on Thursday.

He urged security agents and journalists to watch out for the fake returning officers.

Ohakim said, “Security men need to be very careful because there is tension in the air. There will be fake returning officers on election days.

“Politicians and political parties are busy buying the genuine returning officers and on election day, the fake ones will bear the names and identity cards of genuine officers in order to penetrate the collation centres.

“Security agencies must make sure that these fake returning officers do not have their way. Party agents must snap every returning officer so that we will know who to hold responsible in case anything goes wrong.”
