Okorocha says Buhari will sweep presidential poll

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha and President Muhammadu Buhari

Imo State Governor,  Rochas Okorocha, has expressed optimism that President Muhammadu Buhari will be re-elected.

Okorocha who voted alongside his wife, Nkechi, at 11:18am at Polling Unit D in Ogboko Ward in the Ideato South Local Government Area, said, “I am happy with INEC and how the smart card readers are functioning.”

According to him, INEC had made tremendous improvement compared to its outing in 2015.

The governor who is the All Progressives Congress candidate for Imo West senatorial district said that the President’s speech on ballot box snatching had frightened people from engaging in electoral violence.

Okorocha said, “Though there are few cases of ballot box snatching at Umuobom and Osomotor, the President’s speech on ballot box snatching has  scared people from snatching ballot boxes. That is good for our democracy.”

“If the number of people at rallies translates to voting, Buhari will win. I will also win as always.”

The governor said the incident which led to stabbing to death of one Chief Uzoma to death on Friday night in his local government was being investigated.

Also, the governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, Uche Nwosu, had raised the alarm of incidents of ballot paper snatching and scarcity of ballot papers in some local government areas of the state.

Nwosu who spoke to journalists after casting his vote at his Eziama Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area said he was impressed with the massive turnout of voters.
