PSC gets 242, 455 applications for 10,000 police job

Less than seven days left to the close of the recruitment portal for the Nigeria Police Constable job, the Police Service Commission (PSC) said it has, as at 1pm on January 2, received 242,455 applications.


A statement issued in Abuja yesterday by the commission showed that 212,716 applicants are males and 29,694 are females.

Niger State maintained the highest number of applicants with 15,633, followed by Kano State with 15,079 and Katsina State came third with 14,582.

Others are Kaduna in fourth position with 13,882, Bauchi came fifth with 12, 652 and Adamawa sixth with 11, 449 applicants.

Bayelsa State has the lowest number of applicants with 1,258, followed by Lagos State with 1,358, Anambra State 1,618 and Ebonyi State 1,659.


Benue State has the highest number of female applicants at 2,251 followed by Akwa Ibom State with 1, 772 and Osun is third with 1,721. Zamfara State has the lowest number of female applicants with 27 followed by Jigawa 33 and Sokoto has 34.

PSC Chairman Alhaji Musiliu Smith IGP (retd) reiterated that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure a merit-based recruitment exercise.

He warned applicants that the exercise is absolutely free, adding that any applicant, who pays for assistance will be prosecuted alongside the receiver, if caught.
