The police in Ogun State yesterday arraigned a 40-year-old man, Olalekan Yinka, before an Ota Magistrates’ Court for alleged rape of a woman, aged 31.
Yinka, who lives at 16, Igbele Durojaiye Street, Ota, is facing a count charge of rape, to which he pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor Abdulkareem Mustapha told the court that the accused allegedly raped the woman at his home on December 2, at 9:30 pm.
He said the offence contravened Section 360 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
Chief Magistrate Matthew Akinyemi admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N140, 000 with two sureties in the like sum.
He said the sureties must live within the court’s jurisdiction and be employed.
In addition, the sureties should show evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government, as part of the bail conditions.
Akinyemi adjourned the case till January 7 for further hearing.
