Ondo State House of Assembly, on Friday, impeached its Speaker, Bamidele Oleyeloogun, and his deputy, Iroju Ogundeji. Eighteen out of the 26member House, signed the impeachment notice.
Consequently, a new Speaker, Olamide George, from Akure North, was elected, while Abimbola Fajolu, representing Ile
Oluji/Okeigbo Constituency, became his deputy. Addressing reporters at the assembly complex, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Fatai Olotu, alleged that the former leadership was removed as a result of financial impropriety, incompetence and high handedness.
The impeachment was affected after a rowdy session where Princess Jumoke Akindele, a one time Speaker, was picked as Acting Speaker, before the emergence of the new leadership.
It was learnt that political thugs invaded the Assembly complex and attacked lawmakers and assembly workers during the impeachment process.
Ondo Assembly Speaker, deputy impeached In their separate remarks the Commissioner for Insurance, Muhammed Kari and the President Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), Eddie Efekoha, noted that the insurance industry has not reached its desired goals and objectives but on the verge of convincing Nigerians at large to accept insurance, while seeking for government’s support at the state level.
The duo admonished participants at the seminar to come up with useful recommendations and participate in delivering quality service and superior values to customers.
