Court stops Daily Nigerian from publishing Ganduje’s alleged bribery videos

A Kano State High Court presided over by Justice Namallam yesterday granted an interim injunction stopping Mr. Ja’afar Ja’far and his online newspaper, Daily Nigerian, from further releasing and publishing the video clips of Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje allegedly taking a bribe.

Ganduje had earlier filed a N3 billion suit against Ja’afar and Daily Nigerian for defamation of character, slander and libel.

The application sought an order restraining the first defendant (Ja’far) and second defendant (Daily Nigerian) and their agents from publishing, sharing or spreading videos injurious to the plaintiff/applicant, pending the determination of the substantive application slated for hearing on December 6.

The plaintiff’s lawyer Nuradeen Ayagi stressed the essence of restraining other parties with Jafaar Jafaar as well as Daily Nigerian when asked by the court to shed more light on the use of the word “entities” while referring to the agents of the defendants.

The court also granted the second prayer of the plaintiff/applicant for an order of substituted service on the defendants, and ordered publications in Daily Trust and Leadership newspapers as sufficient service to them.

The judge adjourned for hearing of the Motion on Notice till December 6.
