Ohanaeze youths insist on Vice Presidential slot for Southeast

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council has reiterated its warning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to give the Vice Presidential slot to the Southeast or lose its support.

The group stated this at the end of an emergency stakeholders’ meeting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, with 44 affiliated youth groups.

The meeting, which was presided over by the President-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, deliberated on the 2019 election and the state of the Igbo Nation.

The group raised alarm that the PDP has perfected plans to deny the Southeast the Vice Presidential ticket and give it to the Southwest after the primaries

Isiguzoro said: “We see this plot as wickedness and political treachery against Ndigbo who paid for the survival of PDP since 1999. We, therefore, warn the leadership of PDP that they shouldn’t toil with the people of Southeast as regards to the Vice Presidential slot, or prepare to lose the votes of Igbo youths in 2019.”

The group threatened to only vote PDP in other elections but sink it in the presidential election if Southeast is denied the slot.

It also argued that any of the Southeast Governors or former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi are qualified to be Vice President and will attract Igbo Youths votes in 36 States of the federation to the PDP.
