Three men arraigned for ‘illegal’ arms possession

Three men, Momodu Jimoh (32), Olusegun Samuel (35) and Owoloye Timilehin (30) – have been arraigned at an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged possession of locally-made pistol.


The defendants’ addresses were not given.

The prosecutor, Inspector Johnson Okunade, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on March 27 in Omuo-Ekiti.

He said the offence contravenes Section 27 (i) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State 2012.

The prosecutor prayed the court to adjourn the matter to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.

The defendants pleaded not guilty, and their counsel, Mr Busuyi Ayorinde, urged the court to grant them bail.

The lawyer promised that they would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, granted the accused bail for N100,000 with one surety each in like sum.

He adjourned the matter till September 26 for hearing.
