Man in court for ‘assaulting’ minor

A 36-year-old man, Owuye Oluwafemi, has been arraigned at Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl.


Oluwafemi, whose address was not given, was arraigned on a three-count charge of indecent assault, sexual assault and breach of peace.

Prosecutor Akpan Ikem told the court the accused committed the offences on July 31, about 3:30 pm, at Ola-Oki Street, Ibereko, Badagry.

He alleged the suspect penetrate the private part of the minor with his right finger without her consent and committed an offence punishable under Section 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

“He sexually touched the five-year-old girl, in violation of Section 168 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.


“Oluwafemi also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by instigating people against the victim’s parent, thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 166 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused pleaded not guilty.

Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaya remanded him in prison and adjourned the case till September 10 for further hearing.
