CDS appoints new Commander for Operation Safe Haven

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Tuesday announced appointment of Major Gen. Augustine Agundu as the new Commander of Operation Safe Haven.


The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin, who approved the appointment, said it was designed to reinvigorate the military operation to meet contemporary challenges.

A statement signed by the Director of Defence Information, Brig Gen John Agim, said the appointment takes immediate effect.

Agim said: “The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin, has approved the appointment of Major Gen. Augustine Chris Chukwudi Agundu as the Commander of Operation Safe Haven.

“He is to take over from Major Gen. Anthony Atolagbe who has been redeployed to Defence Headquarters and appointed Director of Campaign Planning.

“The posting which takes immediate effect is in order to reinvigorate Operation Safe Haven to meet contemporary challenges.”
