46 orphans get educational materials in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Commission has distributed educational materials to 46 orphans and disbursed business capital to their guardians in the state.

The Chairman of the Commission, Malam Lawal Maidoki, who disclosed this while distributing the materials, said the programme was to encourage the orphans to go to school.

“This is to ensure that the 46 orphans are able to go back to school and become educated like those whose parents are alive.

“The gesture, however, is to support the state government’s for declaring a state of emergency in the education sector of the state,” he said.

Maidoki added that the gesture was part of the Commission’s commitment to welfare of the less privileged in the society.

He said each child was provided with two school uniforms, writing and reading materials, school bags and school sandals.
