Bayelsa Police confirm APC leader’s abduction

Bayelsa State Police Command yesterday confirmed the kidnapping of Mr. Robert Desmond, the chief executive officer of a pro-All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign group called the New Face.

Spokesman Asimin Butswat, who confirmed the abduction, said in Yenagoa that the police had begun investigation to arrest the perpetrators.

A witness, Mike Perekiye, told reporters that the victim was kidnapped last Saturday after a social event in Nembe Local Government.

The Caretaker Chairman, Brass Local Government, Mr. Victor Isaiah, condemned the act, describing it as wickedness to humanity.

He urged security operatives to ensure the release of the victim.

Isaiah implored anyone with information that could lead to Desmond’s release to report to the authorities.
