Ronaldo strikes winner as Real Madrid retain Club World Cup

Real Madrid beat Gremio 1-0 in the FIFA World Club Championship final to become the first team ever to retain the trophy.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s second-half free-kick proved to be the winner as Los Blancos won the trophy for the third time in four years.

The win equals the record held by Madrid’s rivals Barcelona who have also won the trophy on three occasions.

Gremio were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty shortly before Ronaldo’s goal, when Sergio Ramos clumsy foul in the box was not given by referee Cesar Ramos.
