Pilgrims from Osun State who performed 2016 Hajj to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, have received N9.7 million refund of balance of the fees they paid.
The Amir Hajj and Chairman, Osun State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board, Barr. Zikrullahi Olakunle Hassan, who made the disclosure, said that the state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, approved payment of N13, 500 refunds to each pilgrim.
Hear him: “724 pilgrims from Osun State participated in the last year Hajj.
“The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) met with the Saudi authorities over the services they could not render in 2016 Hajj exercise to the pilgrims from Nigeria and asked for the refund. When the Saudis responded positively to the request, the NAHCON, therefore, received the money for services not rendered for onward refund to the pilgrims who participated in the Hajj 2016 exercise.”
Hassan expressed gratitude to the governor for approving the refund promptly, promising unalloyed support of the board to him.
