Catholic Priest who ‘faked’ his abduction to secretly see wife resign

A Catholic church Priest, Rev. Fr. Gospel Inalegwu who resigned from priesthood last week had married before joining the seminary.

Rev. Fr. Inalegwu tendered his resignation letter to the Bishop of Kano Diocese Most. Rev. John Namawzah and immediately travelled out of the state with all his belongings.

The Catholic priest who hails from Benue south senatorial district had both his traditional wedding and church marriage even before he got admission Into the seminary.

Rev. Inalegwu was reported to have been abducted last year by gunmen at his Parish in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jitan- Dutse, in Tudun Wada local government council in Kano state where he was ordained a priest in 2013.

But a source said abduction was stage managed so that the priest would have a reason to resign. During the period of the alleged abduction, Rev. Fr. Inalegwu cohabited with his secret wife and later return back himself.

Similarly, a popular Uyo-base Rev. Fr. Patrick Edet announced his resignation from the Catholic church on Radio, two months ago.
