Gunman kills youth corps member in Delta

A yet-to-be identified gunman has shot dead Mr Toriseju Lodge, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in Delta.

He was allegedly shot dead in front of his rented apartment at Oghara, the country home of former governor of the state, Chief James Ibori.

The corps member was said to be serving in Imo State, but returned to his rented apartment in Oghara, where he was living as a student of a university in the area.

He was said to have returned to Oghara to celebrate the last Easter with his friends when the gunman, who was said to be wearing a mask, struck.

A female source, who declined being mentioned, said “Toritseju rented his apartment in Oghara but his parents stay in Sapele.”

So, when he came for the Easter celebration, he chose to stay there (Oghara).

“He was outside that night, checking his phone when the gunman suddenly emerged and shot him thrice.”

“He then took his mobile phone, removed the sim card and memory card before destroying the phone and disappeared into the night.”

Amid the sketchy details, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Police Command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, did not pick calls made to his mobile line.

However, a police source confirmed the story in Oghara and added that Toju’s body has been deposited in a morgue.
