FG reconstitutes ministerial committee on Servicom

The Federal Government has reconstituted the Ministerial Servicom (Service Compact) Committee in order to entrench the change mantra of President Muhammadu Buhari administration in the civil service.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, who inaugurated the committee in her office on Thursday in Abuja, urged the members to play a crucial role

In ensuring that civil servants imbibe the culture of being efficient, productive, incorruptible and citizen-centred in the provision of services to Nigerians.

She said that in a bold move to re-invigorate SERVICOM, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the SERVICOM Headquarters, held the first National Policy Dialogue on strategies for improving service delivery in Government Parastatals, Agencies and Commissions on 27th- 28th March, 2017 with a view to garner stakeholders’ imputes to support SERVICOM and its operations in the MDAs.

The Head of Service said the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation under her watch articulated a strategy that would re-orientate the Civil Service to an enviable height as the machinery for implementation of government policies and programs in the most efficient manner.

She said that, the 2017-2019 Strategy Work Plan recently launched and unveiled on behalf of His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari, by His Excellency, Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo on 26th February, 2017 in his capacity as the Acting President placed a great concern by Government to redirect the Civil Service for better service delivery to Nigerians.

Mrs Oyo-Ita further stated that, the goal one of the strategy document unveiled a new ethos for the service couched in the acronym “EPIC”, which implies, Efficient, Productive, Incorruptible and Citizen- Centered Civil Service.

The EPIC ethos, according to her, “is to be attained in part through a programme of culture change that will leverage on the re-invigoration and transformation of SERVICOM for Citizen-Centred Service.

“This initiative will emphasize the core values of the Civil Service such as meritocracy, helpfulness, transparency, professionalism, anonymity, integrity, discipline, impartiality, political neutrality, patriotism and accountability”, she said.

In her goodwill message, at the event, the Acting National Coordinator SERVICOM Office, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, said that the reconstitution of the Ministerial Service Committee in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation will not only ensure the institutionalization of SERVICOM ideals in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, but it will also lead to the entrenchment of a culture of change and re-orientation of Civil Servants service-wide.

She called on members of the re-constituted Ministerial SERVICOM Committee in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation not to relent in adopting and implementing Service standards principles and core values such as EPIC that will drive service delivery processes excellently.
