Turkish executive editor faints on live TV

An executive editor of private broadcaster Channel 5 fainted during a live broadcast on state-run TRT News on March 7.

Ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) lawmaker Mehdi Eker was one of the guests and can be seen to be one of the first people to help Abdulkadir Ünal.

Ünal was taken to hospital immediately while the broadcast was paused for breaks.

“We’ve taken our friend to hospital. He is conscious. He had an infection and was also tired. He could have fainted because of these reasons. I have never experienced such an incident like this before. Our journalist friends are working at high tempos. Their working conditions are harsh. I wish for his fast recovery,” he said.
