Police find dead body of husband in wife’s bathtub while questioning her about shoplifting

A woman was arrested on a charge of abandoning a corpse after police found the dead body of her husband in the bathtub, according to police in Japan.

Shizuoka police said that they have arrested 61-year-old Yumiko Igarashi, after she was questioned for shoplifting in her home.

According to the police investigation, early in the day, Igarashi was caught shoplifting from a supermarket. Police went to her home, where she was questioned about the incident.

After a few minutes, police officers noticed a foul odor coming from the woman’s bathroom. They went inside, and were shocked to see the decomposing body of a man.

Igarashi revealed that her 60-year-old husband died several months ago, and she decided to leave him there. An autopsy was performed to determine the cause of death.
