Turkey agrees $1 million payment to relief trust

Turkey has ratified the payment of $1 million to the Catastrophe Containment and Relief Trust, the Official Gazette reported on Oct. 4.

Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek signed the agreement with the International Monetary Fund to contribute the sum to the trust, which was set up in February last year to provide debt relief to Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone after they were hit by an outbreak of Ebola.

The trust now provides potential assistance to other low income countries affected by public health disasters.
