Police detective shoots his two sons and kills himself during argument at family party

A father who worked for the New York Police Department for 27 years, died after shooting his two sons.

The father shot his two adult children before killing himself during a party at his home in Long Island, police said.

According to witnesses, 61-year-old Irvin Noak was arguing with relatives during a party at his home on Foxglove Circle in Bellport.

During the argument, at around 11:00 p.m., his two sons intervened, and Noak was not happy about it.

Noak left and grabbed a pistol from his bedroom before he returned and shot his children, who were identified as Irvin Noak III, 30, and Aaron Noak, 22.

The father then turned the gun on himself, police said.

Emergency crews took all three men to the Brookhaven Memorial Hospital. The sons were listed in critical condition while their father was pronounced dead.

It is not immediately clear what the argument was about.
