Lamp falls on congregation in mosque in central Turkey, injures 11

Eleven people were injured on Aug. 26 in the Central Anatolian province of Kayseri, after a lamp fell on the congregation ahead of Friday prayers.

Ambulances were called to the scene and the 11 injured people were taken to hospitals nearby, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

Witnesses said the lamp fell as the mosque’s imam was speaking ahead of prayers. They added that most of those affected sustained head injuries.
