A woman of Florida, thought she was doing the right thing by taking a gun away from her son.
However, that turned out to be a fatal mistake as she accidentally shot her mother with it.
52-year-old Carolyn Wright was in her daughterโs home in Tampa, when her teenage grandson brought home a loaded gun.
The mother, Jessica Wright, 33, took the gun away from the teen and
unloaded it just after midnight on Friday, Hillsborough County sheriff’s
investigators said.
However, Jessica did not realize that there was still one round in the chamber.
As she handled the weapon, she accidentally fired a shot, hitting her
mother. The bullet hit Carolyn in the upper body, and she died at the
scene.
The teenage boy who brought the gun home, panicked. He grabbed the gun
and ran outside. He then threw the gun into a storm drain down the
block.
Police officers recovered the gun and are now investigating how the boy got a hold of the weapon.
