On Sunday afternoon, a man in Hunan was almost killed by an oncoming train when another passenger pushed him off the platform as revenge for repeatedly spitting on the floor.
34-year-old man surnamed Li said that he had been
watching a 48-year-old man surnamed Tan repeatedly spit on the ground,
all the way from the waiting room to the platform. Li felt that the
spitting was insulting, and took justice into his own hands by pushing
Tan in front of an approaching train.
Tan made a narrow escape by quickly jumping off the rails after
falling over a meter from the platform. Li has been detained by police
for causing intentional injury.
Reporters quote Tan as saying that he could have lost his life if he
hadn’t moved quickly. “I know spitting is a bad habit, but I didn’t mean
to offend anyone. Now I won’t ever dare to spit again,” said Tan.
