There was a serious fire outbreak in Sokoto’s old market on July 24 and
It destroyed a number of shops/goods. State Governor Aminu Waziri
Tambuwal has paid a visit to the scene. He revealed that the government
plans to modernize all markets in the state so as to avoid incidences of
fire as recorded in recent months. Also, his government is currently
assessing the damage done to this market and will in due course announce
special intervention to cushion the effect the disaster on the
