Obasanjo says recent budget padding allegations affirms his statement that NASS is filled with rogues and armed robbers

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo who in 2012 described the National
Assembly and state Houses of Assembly as institutions filled with rogues
and armed robbers, yesterday said the recent budget padding allegations
and counter allegations emanating from the House of Representatives,
proves that his statement was right. Speaking to state house
correspondents after his meeting with President Buhari yesterday July
25th, Obasanjo said;

 “Well, if you said that I have said it in the past and if there are
people who didn’t believe what I said ‎in the past, then you now say
that what has come out confirms what I said in the past, then, I can say
what I said in the past is what I will say now.”he said

According to Obasanjo, the only way out to addressing corruption in the
National Assembly is to elect men and women of integrity

“It is not a question of investigation. We should get men and women of
integrity into the place and the President should be very vigilant;
whatever should not pass should not pass” he said.
